The former San Basilio Psychiatric Hospital in Rieti comes back to life through a new interactive installation, created using the patented OLOS® and HI®-HUMAN INTERFACE methodologies.
The genius loci of the installation is Sister Virginia Maria, the Mother Superior of the Mantellate Order, the first nurses of the Rieti Asylum. Her figure guides visitors through an immersive narrative journey filled with memory, history, and reflection.
The experience unfolds across multiple narrative sequences, offering visitors the freedom to choose the direction of their journey within the museum. It begins with the history of the place and the value of collective memory, then delves into human stories, fragments of life, and intimate testimonies from the patients who once lived in the asylum. These memories emerge as pieces of a past often forgotten but essential to remember.
Thanks to HI®-HUMAN INTERFACE technology, the temporal barrier is overcome, bringing authenticity and human depth to the storytelling. Visitors can select which narrative paths to explore, making each experience unique and participatory.
The installation is multilingual and designed to be fully accessible, including for visitors with disabilities.
