On the outskirts of Varanasi, on the banks of the Ganges River, there is a small rural school surrounded by the villages from which the children come. It was founded about eighty years ago and is inspired by the educational vision of J. Krishnamurti, a vision of compassion and harmonious human development. The school is named after Achyut Patwardhan, a lifelong friend of Krishnamurti and a prominent figure in India’s independence movement. Overcoming numerous challenges throughout its existence, the school has grown in size and quality and is now a place of research, through education, for a possible happiness. The documentary film follows the daily lives of the children from the villages and their educational journey within the school, also giving voice to the teachers, the school principal Nimesh, and Santi Borgni, founder of an association that has supported the school for 15 years.
