Sinossi: Un uomo bizzarro e squattrinato, senza una gamba, arriva a Manfredonia e sostiene di essere il grande impresario Remo Campiotti, che vuole organizzare un magnifico concerto spettacolo proprio lì, nella ridente città di Manfredonia, con tutte le stelle della musica italiana degli anni ’60. Col pretesto di fare i sopralluoghi, l’impostore riesce così ad entrare nelle grazie di una città intera, ipnotizzata dal sogno di musica e star. L’uomo vive due settimane a spese della cittadinanza, ammirato e corteggiato come un eroe. Poi sparisce come è arrivato, lasciando un’intera comunità nel caos, umiliata e ferita nel suo orgoglio. Dopo la truffa, dai notiziari si scopre che egli è un impostore seriale: nessuno metterebbe la mano sul fuoco su nessuna delle sue identità multiple. Non ha nemmeno rubato grandi quantità di denaro, quindi quale fosse il suo scopo resta un mistero.Quindici anni più tardi a Manfredonia, la radio locale viene venduta e tutti i lavoratori vengono licenziati. Tra questi, Mimì, una giornalista radiofonica quarantenne, si ritrova improvvisamente senza un lavoro e con un sacco di tempo per guardarsi intorno. Viene a sapere per la prima volta la storia dell’ uomo che ha avuto la capacità e il coraggio di “inventare una vita” e di ingannare anche le istituzioni manfredoniane; questa diventa una specie di idea fissa per lei. Mimì vuole svelare la storia epica di quell’uomo attraverso un’inchiesta, che sarà pubblicata on-line sul sito web di notizie locali. Pian piano, mentre Mimi chiede ai cittadini di questa storia bizzarra e scomoda del passato, appare un ritratto di una singolare comunità di persone, con le loro debolezze e paure, da un lato, ma anche con la loro generosità, la loro passione e il desiderio di voltare pagina, qualità che un imbroglione amante della vita, con il suo passaggio veloce ma intenso, ha in qualche modo scatenato. Mossa dalla curiosità, e aiutato dal vecchio collega della radio, Vincenzo, Mimì partirà per l’Albania, per scoprire davvero tutte le tracce, indietro fino alle vere origini di quell’uomo bizzarro, che ha donato un meraviglioso sogno di riscatto alla città pugliese e, probabilmente, a Mimì se stessa.

Synopsis: A down-and-out bizzarre man without a leg, gets to Manfredonia and claims he is the great event manager Remo Campiotti, who wants to organize a magnificent music show right there, in the wonderful city of Manfredonia, with all the italian music stars of the 60s. With the pretext of making inspections, the faker can thus get into the good graces of an entire city, mesmerized by the dream of music and stars. He lives two weeks at the public expense, admired and courted like a hero. Then he disappears as he arrived, leaving a whole community into turmoil, humiliated and wounded in its pride. In the news, after the scam is discovered, he is depicted as a serial faker: nobody would bet on any of his multiple identities. He did not even steal great amounts of money, so what was his purpose?Fifteen years later in Mafredonia, the local radio is sold to another owner and all the workers are fired. Among them, Mimi, a 40 years old radio journalist, suddenly finds herself without a job and a lot of time to look around. She gets to know for the first time the story of the man who had the ability and the courage to “invent a life” and to cheat even the Manfredonian institutions; it becomes a sort of fixed idea for her. Mimi wants to reveal the epic story of that man through a survey, to be published online in the local news website. Piece by piece, while Mimi asks the citizens of this bizarre and uncomfortable story of the past, it shows a portrait of a community of people not completely lost, with their weaknesses and fears on the one hand, but also with their generosity, their passion and the overwhelming desire to turn the page which a life-loving trickster, with his quick but intense passage, has somehow unleashed. Moved by curiosity, and helped by her radio colleauge Vincenzo, Mimì will leave for Albania, to really detect all the traces and to find the real origin of that strange man, who gave a wonderful redemption dream to her city and, probably, to Mimì herself.
